Life Groups are an essential part of our church, as they provide a place where deeper fellowship and better support for one another can take place. At HUC, we believe that Home Groups are absolutely vital to our spiritual lives. Considering that the early church worshipped in large settings in the synagogues as well as in homes, we unite together similarly in order to be in deeper fellowship with God and one-another. God has reconciled us not only to Himself but also to each other. This "each other" is called His Church. Thus, we intentionally strive toward community through our Life Groups.
Living in community for spiritual transformation, fellowship, and life on life service and love, These groups meet weekly. They start with some casual conversation, then move to a sermon based discussion to think through application to real life situations. As “iron sharpens iron” so we sharpen each other and pray for each other. We eat a snack and talk about life in such a way so that we are there for each other for what is going on in each other’s life. In this sense we are really being community to each other.
Life Groups are organized by relational aspects instead of regional ties. Life Group Leaders invite people into their groups and we post the leaders names so people can choose a group that has openings. Once a group has 12 people it will be closed to new people. Here are leaders who are accepting new people starting after Easter:
Doug and Helen White
Dave and Mindy Malcom
Lloyd and Karen Lapp (This group meets on Wednesday night at the Guest House and focuses on prayer)
